Carol Coletta, who was recently named as one of the world’s top-50 experts on urban innovation, will bring her fresh ideas to Portland as the keynote speaker at the 4th annual EcoDistricts Summit, hosted by the Portland Sustainability Institute.
Coletta has dedicated her life to answering the question “What makes cities succeed?,” and is currently the leader of ArtPlace, a collaborative initiative of national foundations, leading banks, federal agencies and the National Endowment for the Arts. The organization seeks to accelerate creative placemaking across the U.S. by investing in art and culture to help transform communities.
In addition to her work at ArtPlace, Coletta’s accomplishments include hosting and producing a nationally syndicated public radio show, Smart City, and directing the Mayor’s Institute on City Design. As the former president of CEOs for Cities, she spearheaded the Talent Dividend program to increase the number of American college graduates, and encouraged people to understand their cities’ progress through metrics like connectivity, talent and innovation.
